Gurdwara SGSS Hounslow NEWS Plus

Sangat Consultation on Hounslow Business ParkWith Guru Sahib’s blessings, our Gurdwara continues to thrive — not just as a place of worship, but as a true center for seva, education, and community spirit. Every success we achieve is due to the Sangat’s support, dedication, and generosity.

On Sunday, 5th October 2025 the Management Committee (MC) shared the news of the possible purchase of the adjoining business park next to our Gurdwara with the congregation. This opportunity could have a long-term impact on our Gurdwara’s future, and the MC shared it openly with the Sangat.

The Potential Benefits

There are several potential benefits to consider:

Securing the Gurdwara’s surroundings - Owning the adjoining site would give us control over what happens next to our Gurdwara, preventing developments that could affect access, parking, or the sanctity of the space.

Room for community expansion - The extra land could be used to extend our facilities — such as youth and elderly services or welfare programmes.

Income generation - The business park with tenants could provide rental income to help support the Gurdwara.

Parking and accessibility - It could also help address one of our biggest challenges of limited parking during large programmes.

The Risks and Responsibilities

With the benefits come serious risks and responsibilities, which we must carefully consider before taking any step forward:

Financial Risk - The significant purchase price and upkeep costs will be significant; We must ensure that do not overstretch financially or jeopardise existing commitments such as building maintenance, education, and langar seva.

Management and Expertise - Managing a business park requires professional skills; This would bring new administrative responsibilities for the committee and the Sangat.

Market Uncertainty - The commercial property market can fluctuate. Rental income is not guaranteed and may vary, especially if units become vacant or tenants leave.

Community Unity - A decision of this scale must be made with the unity and consensus of the Sangat. Differences of opinion may arise, but our strength lies in how we handle them — with respect, open dialogue, and Guru’s guidance.

Feedback

This is a rare opportunity — one that could shape the future of our Gurdwara for generations to come. But it must be approached with care, transparency, and collective wisdom. Let us pray that Guru Sahib blesses us with understanding and unity — so that whatever decision we make reflects seva, not self-interest; foresight, not haste; and benefits the entire community.
